“I was accepted into the 2022 Oncology Intern program with Janssen Pharmaceutical of Johnson & Johnson. I am working as a clinical scientist intern, assisting and producing research on bispecific antibodies targeting Non Hodgkin's B- Cell Lymphoma. This opportunity was extremely important to me as I continue my journey to becoming a physician. Medical schools do not require research experience, but this opportunity has for sure set me a part from other applicants. Living in a new city over 800 miles away from home has been challenging, but far more rewarding. To be in a new place has sort changed my perspective on life, shown me how I can better accomplish my goals, and watch the surroundings I keep. And now, I finally gained the discipline to begin studying for the MCAT.”

“I intern at Deloitte as a Risk and Financial Advisory, IT specializing in Assurance. It was imperative that I took this opportunity because I knew I would be offered a full-time position after completion. Not only that, the networking and connections I’ve made are indescribable. The people I've met over the duration of my time are lifelong connections. Even so, my recruiter and I are in the works of developing HBCU campus ambassadors. So this fall I will be able to recruit Alabama State students and expose them to many opportunities within Deloitte. I'm super excited about that. It's important that we expand the diversity and inclusion within corporate and the big four overall. I knew I couldn't excel to my full potential without the help of the Student Support Fund. Blessed is an understatement.”

“I am a rising junior majoring in Computer Information Systems at Alabama State University. I am a first-generation college student who aspires to contribute to my community through a career of public health and technology. I am an Embark Scholars' intern for KPMG and because of the Student Support fund, I am closer to not only becoming a professional black woman in corporate America, but a student who is able to represent ASU to my fullest potential. This opportunity is based in Atlanta, GA, and I currently live in Montgomery, AL. Without the Student Support Fund's contribution towards housing in Atlanta, GA, this opportunity would not exist for me and I wouldn't be able to say that I have this level of experience in the field. I am forever grateful!”

“I am a Technology - Risk & Financial Advisory Intern at Deloitte. Deloitte is the largest professional services network - by revenue and number of professionals - in the world and is considered one of the Big Four accounting firms. This opportunity was essential for me to pursue to further cultivate my professional and personal growth. The Student Support Fund assisted me with moving to a new city and state, so I can participate in this internship. Without the help of the Student Support Fund, I don't know how I would’ve been able to afford the move.”

“I was blessed with the opportunity to participate in the Summer Health Professions Education Program at Columbia University. This opportunity was important to me considering the exposure I would gain in the health field, the advancement of my knowledge of the field, and the opportunity to represent my institution at the Ivy League level. The Student Support Fund made this opportunity possible by removing the burden placed with traveling to New York City. This opportunity has been nothing less than excellent. It has been a life-changing experience and has matured me overall. The Student Support Fund is an exceptional asset to the students of Alabama State University. It allows us the opportunities to explore our career fields in ways we would have never had the opportunity to do so without the support.”

“I’ve worked very hard since my freshman year of college to secure an internship within the Big 4. The biggest obstacle in participating with KPMG for my summer internship (even more than acceptance) was affording housing. Thankfully the student support fund relieved me of that burden. The diversity of assistance offered by the Student Support Fund ensures your investment will not go to waste. Supporting Bama State students in their endeavors will only have positive results for the students and the university.”
